Bose A20 Aviation Headsets and Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) arrived for the helicopter flight students at Guidance Aviation of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While the A20 noise cancelling headsets provide an extraordinary level of sound clarity and comfort for the student pilot, the EFBs (iPAD minis) contain geo-referenced navigational charts and ADS-B traffic avoidance data. Each EFB comes with a Survivor iPad case by Griffin Technologies.

iPads – The Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) for Student Pilots
The iPads will be used in the cockpit as an electronic information management device. The devices are pre-loaded with Fore Flight Mobile, FAR/AIM, as well as Guidance Aviation’s Mobile APP. Through this Mobile APP, the helicopter student pilots will utilize their iPADs to view the high definition (HD) helicopter flight training videos that Guidance Aviation has produced. Guidance is one of the few helicopter pilot schools in North America to have these videos approved by the FAA as a portion of ground school. Accessible 24/7, student pilots can now learn at a time and pace that works for them.
What is an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB)?
“An Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) is a device that allows flight crews to perform a variety of functions that were traditionally accomplished by using paper references. In its simplest form, an EFB can perform basic flight planning calculations and display a variety of digital documentation, including navigational charts, operations manuals, and aircraft checklists. The most advanced EFBs are fully certified as part of the aircraft avionics system and are integrated with aircraft systems such as the FMS. These advanced systems are also able to display an aircraft’s position on navigational charts, depict real-time weather, and perform many complex flight planning tasks.” [Source: NBAA.org]
