Congress Could Soon Vote to Cut Veterans’ Educational Benefits by $882 Million

Helicopter Association International just posted an article updating us on the status of H.R. 3016, which could come to a vote as soon as Tuesday, February 2nd.

H.R. 3016 would cap flight training reimbursement for veterans at $20,235 per year, and private pilot training would no longer be reimbursed by the VA at all.

The article quotes HAI President Matt Zuccaro as saying:

“[I find it] incredulous that the House Veterans Affairs Committee would send a bill to the House floor to cap flight training benefits, but increase the pay for VA podiatrists and create a new bureaucracy within this troubled agency that cannot seem to avoid making national news on a weekly basis.”

The bill will be brought to the floor by Representative Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), who is himself a veteran of the Army Reserve and… a podiatrist.
